The Center for Asian and Pacific Studies is a research and outreach center devoted to promoting understanding of the Asia-Pacific region. Its primary aim is to foster collaborative and individual research engaging Asia-interested fellows around the world. The Center is distinctive in terms of its geographic scope with programmatic focus on East Asia, South East Asia, South Asia, and the Pacific Islands.

As a multi-disciplinary hub, CAS fosters research, learning, and public engagement with Africa and its diasporas. CAS serves the public by building community through events, networks, partnerships, and resources. CAS aims to share knowledge with the global public, to promote advocacy, and to address critical issues in Africa and beyond.

The Pacific covers a third of the Earth’s surface and is home to about 15 million people. It features 20 per cent of all the world’s languages. And it hosts around 25 nations, states and territories in an ocean of 25,000 islands. So, needless to say, the significance of Pacific and Oceania Studies cannot be understated, and we at COS enjoy a long legacy in the study of the region.

The primary mission of the Middle East and North Africa Studies Program (MENA) at the Global South Institute is to introduce and enhance the educational and cultural awareness of the Middle East region and of its diverse peoples, history, and cultures. MENA promotes both specialized knowledge and public understanding of this crucial region of the world, which includes the Arab states, Turkey, Iran, and Israel.

The Center for European Studies is dedicated to uniting aspiring fellows from around the world to discuss new knowledge and research in a stimulating environment. At CES, researchers conduct policy research across a diverse array of areas: from finance, migration, asylum, and borders to economic and monetary affairs, employment, social affairs and inclusion, as well as foreign and security policy, energy and climate change, AI, digitalisation and innovation, human rights and justice, taxation, and trade.

The Centre for the Study of North America aims to develop and promote the study of and engagement with the North American region from an interdisciplinary perspective. Our geographical, intellectual, and transnational framework comprises the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. The Centre engages in, and supports, innovative, collaborative, and impactful research practice both within academia and beyond.
